Football Stars Yaya Toure and James Milner have joined the world in congratulating World’s best Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge following his exploits in Vienna, Austria.
Saturday saw Kipchoge become the first human on earth to run a sub two-hour marathon.
Kipchoge clocked 01:59:40 in Vienna, a time that will go down in history as the best ever in a Marathon Race.
His achievements in Vienna have made him one of the most talked about Sporting Personalities in the world right now with a number of celebrities congratulating him for his efforts.
Former Manchester City Stars Yaya Toure now at Chinese League One club Qingdao Huanghai and James Milner now at Liverpool have all celebrated Kipchoge’s achievements over the weekend.
“Wow! Congratulations my brother! Amazing achievement, Making Africa proud,” Said Yaya after Kipchoge’s heroics in Vienna.
Yaya Toure also took time to Congratulate Brigid Kosgei who also broke records over the weekend at the Chicago Marathon.
Kosgei smashed the Women’s marathon record that had stood for 16 years.
She smashed Paula Radcliffe’s women’s marathon world record to become the new women’s world marathon record holder. She achieved the feat in 2 hours, 14 minutes and 04 seconds.
“Wow!!! Congratulations Kosgei ! What a weekend for Kenya!!!,” Said Toure.
On his Part, Liverpool’s James Milner hailed Kipchoge for what he termed as Unreal effort while at the same time taking a dig on the Video Assistant Referee, VAR.
“Unreal effort, takes some people longer to….. make a VAR decision,” Said Milner.
Well, it looks like James Milner is not a fan of the VAR after all.
On Saturday, the duo’s former Club Manchester City also congratulated the history making Kipchoge.
“Congratulations to Eliud Kipchoge, sporting history made! Absolutely incredible!,” Tweeted the Cityzens.
