AFC LEOPARDS WINLESS RUN AGAINST HOMEBOYZ CONTINUES

AFC Leopards’ Kenya Premier League Campaign started on a wrong note at the hands of Kakamega Homeboyz in a match played at the Bukhungu Stadium.

Ingwe head coach, Casa Mbungo handed debuts to six new signings with Goalkeeper Benjamin Ochan, defenders Collins Shivachi and Robert Mudenyu, midfielders Vincent Habamahoro, Tresor Ndikumana and Ismaila Diara all starting.

Meanwhile Kakamega Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti also named a strong starting 11 that saw a number of new signings handed their debuts.

Kakamega Homeboyz was the dominant side of the two teams in the first half but they could not create clear goalscoring opportunities.

The second half was more of the same but Homeboyz upped the tempo and were rewarded with a goal with 6 minutes to the final whistle remaining. Stephen Etyang was on hand to complete a quick but swift counter-attack from Homeboyz and condemn Leopards to their first league defeat in the opening weekend.

Sunday’s loss, means that AFC Leopards have only won once in their last seven encounters against Kakamega Homeboyz.

ZOO KERICHO SEE OFF CHEMELIL SUGAR

Elsewhere, Zoo Kericho thumped Chemelil Sugar 3-1 to start the season on a positive note. Kepha Ondati opened the scoring in the 55th minute before Deric Anami added a second in the 71st minute.

Chemelil scored 4 minutes later to give themselves hope of a comeback but Newton Ondari got Zoo’s third of the match in the 79th minute to crash any Chemelil hopes of getting anything from the match.
