The John Avire transfer saga is far from over.
Just a day after Sofapaka Football Club through President Elly Kalekwa accused Football Kenya Federation CEO Mr. Robert Muthomi of trying to engineer a move for Avire to a club in Egypt, FKF have issued an official statement with regards to the matter.
The Football body has confirmed reciept of a complaint from Sofapaka and have launched an internal investigation into the same, with a view of ensuring justice and fairness to all the involved parties.
According to FKF, anybody found guilty will be held responsible in accordance with the FKF disciplinary code.
FKF have also confirmed that Avire remains a Sofapaka player.
“For the avoidance of doubt and for the good of the game, we wish to reiterate that John Avire remains a Sofapaka FC player with a valid contract running until December 31, 2020,” Said FKF through Head of Communications Barry Otieno.
The Nick Mwendwa led body has also stated that the transfer of Avire will be contrary to both FIFA and FKF statutes as the player has not been issued with an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) by the federation or released by his Club as required by law.
Meanwhile, Muthomi has denied any wrongdoing and has welcomed the pronouncement by FKF President Nick Mwendwa that the matter will be investigated thoroughly by the relevant organs of FKF.
“I expect that the investigations will go to the core of the matter and i look foward to being vindicated,” Said Muthomi.
