Harambee Stars’ AFCON Preparations have been rocked by a dark cloud after high flying defender Brian Mandela suffered an injury that will see him miss the upcoming Continental showpiece in Egypt.

Mandela injured his Knee during the Monday morning training session and is not expected to be fit in time for the African Cup of Nations.

He is also set to miss Harambee Stars’ upcoming friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Coach Sebastien Migne is in a difficult situation after Defender Musa Mohamed also picked up a knock during Kenya’s friendly against Madagascar. The Coach is therefore in a race against time to fix the looming Defensive problems at the Stars’ camp.

“Brian got injured today in training. He is one of our key players and will not be available for AFCON. We will need to find a solution,” said coach Sébastien Migné

“It is not good for us and for him as well. Musa Mohamed also picked up a knock (in Harambee Stars’ friendly match against Madagascar). We cannot take a risk with him against DRC but he could be available for AFCON,” added the coach.

Kenya will face the DRC on Saturday June 15th in Madrid, Spain before departing for Egypt on June 19th.

The Boys will then take on Algeria in their first Group Match on Sunday 23rd June at 11.00 Pm Local Time.
