Championship side Derby County have on Tuesday confirmed that they have granted permission for Chelsea Football Club to Speak to their current manager Frank Lampard.
Chelsea are believed to be close to agreeing a deal with Lampard. The Blues fans favourite is set to take over the reigns of power at the Bridge following the departure of Maurizio Sarri who left for Serie A Champions Juventus.
Derby has said that it hopes Chelsea will swiftly conclude their discussions with Lampard.
“With pre-season fast approaching for both clubs it is hoped this will allow Chelsea to swiftly conclude their discussions,”Read an official Statement on the Club’s Website.
Before any decision is arrived at, Derby has maintained that it will make no further comment until it is appropriate to do so.
According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have told Derby they are prepared to pay the £4m compensation clause in Lampard’s Rams contract.
Lampard was appointed as Derby boss last summer and enjoyed an impressive debut season in management, leading the club to the Sky Bet Championship play-off final where they lost 2-1 to Aston Villa.
