Kenya’s campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations might have come to an end but one thing that remains clear is that some players stood out and with that, won the love and admiration of a number of football fans in the country.

One such player is defender Eric ‘Marcelo’ Ouma who put in great performances every time he was called to step up for the National Team.

Upon landing at the JKIA from Egypt, Ouma had some words of encouragement for the Kenyan football fraternity.

According to Ouma, Harambee Stars will bounce back after their AFCON experience.

Ouma has said that together with fellow teammates, they gained valuable experience from the AFCON, experience that they will use for future continental assignments.

The Swedish based defender has insisted that they gave their best in Egypt.

“It was a good experience out there playing against the best teams in Africa and we also gave our best but sometimes, we must have a winner and a loser,” Said Ouma.

“My only dream now is to use the experience we picked in Afcon to build a strong team that can start challenging the best in Africa. I know we can make it because we now have the support of both the Kenyan government and the local Federation.”

Kenya won one match against Tanzania but lost the other two against Algeria and Senegal.

The team started their Afcon campaign with a 2-0 defeat against Algeria, but they recovered to beat Tanzania 3-2 before Senegal thrashed them 3-0.

Kenya now turns her attention to the CHAN qualifiers against Tanzania later this month.
