Football Kenya Federation has cofirmed the appointment of Francis Kimanzi as the Head coach of Harambee Stars together with Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno who will be the assistant coach.
The two, together with the entire technical bench, will be unveiled on Tuesday August 20, 2019, at 10am.
Ahead of his official unveiling, Kimanzi has termed it a great honour to be back again with the National team.
“I am ready for the job, my work is to coach and it is good to have the opportunity again. I am looking forward to help the team do better and also reach great heights.
“I had a good time with Sebastien [Migne], I worked under him and we did a lot together, it is my time now to conclude some of the foundations which we had laid together,” Said Kimanzi as quoted by Goal.
Kimanzi has also hailed his assistant Zedekiah Zico Otieno terming him a good coach who he would be happy to work with.
Kimanzi’s first assignment with the team is likely to be AFCON 2021 qualifier match against Egypt in Cairo. Ahead of the clash with the North Africans, the former Mathare United boss has affirmed his belief that Kenya will make it out of the group that also consists of Togo and Comoros.
Kenya will be aiming to make it to a second consecutive Africa Cup of Nations, this time with Kimanzi at the helm.
