Kenyan midfielder Francis Kahata is no doubt one of the most creative midfielders to ever set foot in the Kenyan football scene.

His great footballing ability has earned him fans and admiration across the region and it is therefore no suprise that a number of clubs are out to get him into their books.

Kahata has been on the radar of Tanzanian giants Simba SC for sometime now.

He has now admitted that a move to Simba is close even though he is yet to put pen to paper.

According to the former Thika FC player, talks are 95 percent done and he will soon pen a deal.

Kahata is currently a free agent after his contract with Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia run down.

He has previously admitted that he is out to get a new challenge after a trophy laden period at Kogallo.

A move to Simba will see him link up with his former team mate Meddie Kagere.

“I haven’t signed yet but the negotiations are progressing well. We are 95 percent done and I’m waiting to pen the deal,” he said. “It’s a joy(to play with Meddie Kagere). I played with him at Gor and he’s a good striker and I think playing with him at Simba will be a motivating factor,” Said Kahata.

He also took time to address his AFCON experience. Kahata failed to shine in Egypt and was time and again substituted by coach Sebastien Migne. He did not also feature in Kenya’s last match against Senegal.

Despite having a tournament to forget, Kahata has said that the experience he got from the whole showpiece is invaluable.

Kenya failed to make it to the Knockout phase after Benin held Cameroon to a bareen draw.

That result saw Benin go level on points with Kenya but with a superior goal difference.

Kenya will decry the many goals it conceded at the tournament including the 3-0 loss at the hands of Senegal last time out.

Kenya will now turn her attention to the first round of the 2020 Africa Nations Championships Qualifiers against Tanzania with the match set to be played this month.
