Kenyan Team Harambee Stars has for the past few days faced the wrath of angry Kenyan football fans who took to social media to troll the them after a shambolic performance against Algeria saw them lose 2-0 in their AFCON opener.
A number of fans have even questioned if some of the players in the Stars’ camp deserve to be there in the first place. Some Kenyans have also questioned Coach Sebastien Migne’s tactics and squad selection with many feeling that he is not doing enough to help the team get the desired results.
Football Kenya Federation boss Nick Mwendwa has however called on Kenyans to rally behind the team despite a poor show against Algeria on Sunday.
Mwendwa has said that the players have promised to put up a better show against Tanzania come Thursday.
“The players are pained after the defeat, if you look at them, no one is happy. They don’t want to talk about the Algeria game, they have assured us that they will step up against Tanzania,” Said the FKF boss.
The Kenyan Football boss has said that Kenya still has a chance to make it out of the group stages and as such, Kenyans should not in anyway give up.
“If we get a win against Taifa Stars then at least we can fight and get something from Senegal, we still have a chance and the fans should not give up. They should keep supporting the team and remain positive,” he added.
Kenya will face Tanzania on Thursday from 11PM E.A.T knowing very well that a win will give them hopes of making it to the knockout phase of the competition.
