KPL Side Ulinzi Stars have completed the signing of midfielder Kelvin Thairu.
Thairu becomes the soldier’s first signing having joined from troubled Mt. Kenya FC where he was the skipper.
He was part of the Mount Kenya team that had it’s relegation status all but confirmed by Ulinzi Stars in their final match with Enosh Ochieng bagging a hatrick in the process, a hatrick that saw him lift the KPL Golden Boot.
According to Ulinzi Head coach Benjamin Nyangweso, Thairu has been on the club’s radar for a while and he is keen to reap on his prowess as an attacking midfielder, citing his ball distribution in midfield as a key attribute.
Thairu has already linked up with his new teammates and has set the ground running in training.
“Thairu is a good player; we’ve been following him for a while now and we are happy to have him. Tactically, he comes in to boost our midfield, especially on the attacking front because we really needed that. He has good supply of balls in midfield and we are looking to reap a lot from that.
“He has started training and I expect him to gel well with the others as time goes; that is the essence of having him in preseason,” Said Nyangweso.
