Kenyans will have to wait a little longer to see coach Francis Kimanzi fully take charge of National Team Harambee Stars. This follows a decision by Football Kenya Federation, FKF to postpone his official unveiling as head coach.
Kimanzi was set to be unveiled as head coach on Friday with reports showing that the former Mathare United coach was set to sign a two year deal with Zedekiah Odhiambo, KCB head coach also being unveiled as his assistant.
The Unveiling ceremony however failed to take place following failure by the two parties, (FKF and Kimanzi) to agree on a few details of the contract.
According to a close source within FKF, the unveiling of a new technical bench will take place in a day or two after they solve the issues at hand.
“We don’t want a situation where we rush into signing a contract with the new coach and then it brings problems at the end when we want to part ways. We want to make sure everything is in order and both parties are happy,” Said the Source as quoted by Goal.
Kimanzi has termed it a great honour to be back again with the National team.
“I am ready for the job, my work is to coach and it is good to have the opportunity again. I am looking forward to help the team do better and also reach great heights.
Kimanzi’s first task with the team will be an away trip to Egypt in November to face the Pharaohs in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
