AFC Leopards Emerge as Frontrunners in Race to Sign Harambee Stars Striker

Hours after confirming the departure of 8 players led by Paul Were and David Cheche, KPL side AFC Leopards have emerged as favourites to land the services of highly ranked Harambee Stars and Sofapaka FC Striker John Avire.

Ingwe are already in talks with Sofapaka and a deal for the young foward is imminent.

Avire made it to coach Sebastien Migne’s final AFCON squad and was able to make two appearences for Kenya at the Continental showpiece in Egypt.

He went on to put a good show especially in the Group C match against Tanzania which they won 3-2.

He has also made it to Kenya’s provisional squad for the upcoming Africa Nations Championships qualifier against Tanzania.

He is among the seven retained players who made it to the Africa Cup of Nations squad.

Meanwhile, AFC Leopards have confirmed that they are nearing the completion of signing three more players to help beef up the areas identified by the technical bench.

The club through their official twitter account have said that the players will be unveiled soon at their intensive training camp.

AFC Leopards have so far completed the signing of Burundi midfielder Tresor Ndikumana.

The 21-year-old former Amagaju Nyamagabe player is rated among the best young players on the continent.
