What’s up with the sudden love for West Africans at Gor Mahia?
Hours after confirming the signing of Ivorian Striker Gislein Yikpe Gnamian, Kenya Premier League Champions Gor Mahia have roped in another talent from West Africa.
The Club through it’s social media pages has announced the signing of Ghanian Striker Francis Afriyie.
According to ghanasoccernet.com, Afriyie has joined Kogallo on a free transfer.
The 24-year-old previously played for Mexican side Murcielagos FC.
The former Bechem United player once featured for Serbian side FK Vojvodina but had to terminate his contract.
His arival increases the foreign contingent at Gor Mahia with the likes of Shafik Batambuze, Hashim Sempala, Francis Mustafa and the Ivorian Gislein already in the Club’s books.
Kogallo is preparing for an action packed season with the Club out to defend it’s premier league title and also take part in continental competitions.
Afriyie featured in nine matches for Mexican side Murcielagos FC in the 2017/18 season, scoring two goals in five starts and four substitute appearances.
In June 2018, Reports emerged in the Mexican outlets that the Ghanaian hitman was being closely monitored by Dutch Eredivisie side Sparta Rotterdam who were bent on acquiring his services. A deal did not however come through.
