The Mass exodus at Sony Sugar FC is set to continue with AFC Leopards being the latest beneficiary of the same.

Ingwe is close to completing a deal to bring defender Robert Ayala to the den.

Ayala who was part of the Sony Sugar team that went against all odds to finish 5th last season will be joining a list of other players who have parted ways with the troubled Millers.

Sony Sugar’s goal machine Derrick Otanga, midfielder Joshua Nyatini and Goalkeeper Kevin Omondi all joined KPL Moneybags Wazito FC.

Patrick Odhiambo, who was the head coach, joined reigning KPL champions Gor Mahia, alongside midfielder Tobias Otieno.

Kelvin Motsosi, Abdallah Wankuru, Kennedy Odhiambo and Apollo Otieno all joined Western Stima.

Sony Sugar tried to tie down Ayala but all these were in vain as his (Ayala’s) mind was already made up on leaving.

“Ayala is moving to AFC Leopards. We tried to convince him to remain with us but he has already made his mind, Leopards gave him a good offer and he has moved there. He is even training with the team right now,” Said a Source at the Club as quoted by Opera News.

Ayala joined Sony Sugar FC from Muhoroni Youth. He joined Muhoroni’s senior side in 2015 from the Academy and featured for them for two seasons before shifting base to Awendo with Sony in 2018.

He built a name for himself under coach Patrick Odhiambo.

Should he complete his move to Leopards, he will become the club’s fourth signing.

Ingwe have already landed the services of Uganda Cranes keeper Benjamin Ochan, Nzoia Sugar striker Hansel Ochieng and Burundian midfielder Tresor Ndikumana.
