Despite being whitewashed by the Desert foxes from Algeria, Kenya’s Harambee Stars still believe that they got what it takes to make it to the knockout stages of this year’s African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Kenya lost her opening AFCON Match 2-0 to Algeria with the Kenyan team putting in a performance worth forgetting. After the match, many Kenyans took to social media to air their frustrations at the lack of an attacking instinct from the boys.
Harambee Stars players will however have to dust their feet and focus on the next match which is against neighbours Tanzania.
Ahead of the Match, Kenyan Skipper Victor Wanyama has stated that the team will do all it takes to win on Thursday against the Taifa Stars.
Wanyama has challenged fellow teammates to give their all when Kenya takes to the field of play against Tanzania. He has called on Players to make the match count.
“Our next match against Tanzania is very important and we need to win the match, we have to do everything and get a win,” Said Wanyama.
“I know it will not be easy as Tanzania are also in need of a win but we will strive and try our best. We will put all the effort and focus on this match,” he added.
As things stand, Algeria and Senegal are top of Group C with the same goals and goal differences while Kenya and Tanzania are joint bottom with either team yet to even find the back of the net in Egypt.
A Win for either Kenya or Tanzania in the Thursday Night Clash will surely boost the morale of the teams ahead of their final Group matches.
