KPL Moneybags Wazito FC will have to do without the services of their captain Dennis Gicheru who is set to be sidelined for four months.

Gicheru sustained a knee injury in training and is set to undergo surgery next week.

With Gicheru out, New signing Bernard Ochieng from Vihiga United will be called into action as early as the first league match of next season.

Despite his latest setback, Gicheru is upbeat that his other teammates will help the team start strong in the next season with Wazito aiming at lifting the KPL title.

“Injuries are normal in football. We however have a good team which is shaping and jelling well. There is no need to worry”, Said Gicheru as quoted by the Club’s Website.

Wazito head coach Fred Ambani could not hide his disappointment while at the same time banking on his squad to put in a good show even with the absence of Gicheru.

“It is a slight set back, but we have depth that we are continuing to grow to start strongly in the league and generally mount a good competition,” he noted.

Coach Ambani has stressed that Gicheru remains an integral part of the team as his leadership on and off the pitch will be crucial to the team.
